20250614 - Delayed Gratification...
"Delayed gratification"
That's a concept that is fast depleting in the world today
I don't watch series/ serials on OTT platforms generally. I think it is a waste of time, but I do understand the entertainment value they bring.
I am watching on such series currently. Unfortunately, it is like having watched mission impossible all 7 installments and impossible to watch the 8th one - irrespective of how much we don't want to as a principal. Just not possible.
I have watched the earlier 3 seasons and hence, whilst I still think it is a waste of time, I have succumbed to that psychology as the 4th season has released this month.
I watched it about 2 weeks ago. I binge watched of course.
After watching 3 episodes, to my horror, there were no more episodes! The season has many more episodes, but only 3 episodes were released for consumption on the day.
I thought there might be a technical glitch which will get rectified and rest of the episodes will come out next day.
Nope, it didn't come out!
They said the next episode will come out a week later.
There was a bitter social media rebellion from all quarters cussing the platform and how they are ruining the series fully because of this approach etc, etc.
It dawned on me fully how impatient as a society we have become! Need everything instantly, fully, etc.
But this is how my childhood was. Everything on TV was 1 episode a week. I remember the speculation, anticipation, anxiety gossiping about what might happen, everything building up a week and that build up made the next episode so much more relishing!
The past 2 weeks, I have relived these emotions and thoroughly am enjoying myself going through it.
Contrary to what everyone is complaining about and protesting against the platform, I strongly think they are doing the absolute right thing and making the series more valuable in people's minds.
As a bonus, it is giving everyone watching it a taste of "delayed gratification
