20221103 : hypothetical dilema.

I didn't sleep much last night... But for me, ours is a female household. My wife is a few years younger than I am - and very beautiful. We have 2 very beautiful teenage daughters. Occasionally, my mother-in-law stays with us. My mother visits us everyday. Our housekeeper is a middle aged woman and stays with us morning till late evening everyday. Our domestic help is a woman - probably in her early 30s - spends a couple of hours with us everyday. Heck, even our dog is female! Yes - we definitely are a female household. Having an unfamiliar male with us is like letting a cat loose amongst pigeons! An absolute no-no. Luckily, both my nurses/ attenders and women - in their early 20s I am guessing. I am a middle aged male. Usually women nurses/ attenders won't accept middle aged male patients. Either they themselves dont want to - because of the usual apprehensions of the nuisance factor to them or their families will object (if they are young) or their husbands won't allow (i

20220821 : winging it

When I joined my job, it was a very fast growing industry and there were shortages everywhere. Most importantly resources/ manpower/ people for everything. Naturally we became experts in "winging it". Basically not experts in much but a very versatile in picking up anything very fast and "on the job". "High Learnability" was the term coined for it. Recently, a few of my ex-colleagues (very good friends now) had caught up and discussing many of these gory but exciting battle stories. Needless to say, I am seasoned at this and identifying "Learnability" in people. Our industry has decelerated quite a bit. Its still expanding - but has decelerated quite a bit. All the "fresh" folks now have 2-3 decades under their belts and they are going nowhere soon! Another industry that is going through the same expansion is in healthcare (disease care as somebody has said).  There are approximately 400,000 arrivals everyday and only 185,000 departures

20211115 : my nurses

The two nurses I have now have been with me for a couple of months now. One is very young - early 20s and the second is mid 20s - married with 2 young kids. First one is leaving tonight - unplanned stuff and second one mid next week - planned. I have had at least two dozen nurses now. Some good with their work and others mostly lacking. Even the good ones have been good with their work - but mostly the silent types. Rarely engaging me in any conversation. Most of them wouldn't even talk to each other due to language incompatibility issues. These two were an exception. They would talk 24x7, mostly inconsequential things - given their ages. They would be laughing all the time and engage me in conversation often - even though my contribution was limited to nods. It kept the atmosphere in the room very light and cheerful. So yes, I am very sad they are leaving - but also very glad they are going back to their lives and families - especially the one with young kids. I cannot express the

20210508 : my carers

I have had at least some 25 Nurses/Attenders at home till date. I'm sure a greater number are to come in the future too... For atleast a year, we had only male folk. Then came the lockdown suddenly last year and as an act of desperation to get someone overnight, reluctantly, I settled for a female nurse.  Soon we realised she was doing better than the accompanying male nurse (who was a lunatic in his own right, who we had to bring to Mumbai in an equal or more desperate situation). He was replaced with another guy who had his share of issues... So we replaced him with another female nurse (who proved to be very good and stayed the longest too). We realised soon after that they worked well together and more importantly, everyone in the house is more relaxed and comfortable with women in the house (and Leia too) So, from the past year, it has been only women nurses exclusively.  I have also requested for replacing some of the guys earlier for their antics which there has been no su
