2220925 : incorrect choice?

Is there something called a wrong choice? Almost all of us have 20/20 vision in hindsight. Most things feel it could have been done differently in hindsight. Right and wrong are relative. We can be arguing till the cows come home what is right and wrong. Disagreements will invariably be a case of "what is right for me is wrong for somebody else". The lens of morals and ethics and such matters are imposed by society and always changing. What is acceptable today would have been unthinkable in another generation! Then there are situations where one causes harm to someone else - or themselves. It is undoubtedly incorrect . However, from their perspective, that is the next best thing to do for them. If they can think more and consider more things, very likely they will choose different. But, in that instance, considering what they can consider - can someone make a wrong choice? Not by the lens from anybody else, from their own perspective, can they make a wrong choice? Can anyone ...

20220923 : stress

I was having a chat recently with a good friend of mine and we we talking about "stress". I thought about it afterwards and some thoughts came up: One of the most widely used factors for contemporary diseases is "stress" (along with lifestyle). I often wondered for a very very long time - what does it mean.  Generally I knew that something we were doing was not right, but I didn't know what it was . After many years, I found out the definition. (It may not be entirely right, but it is how I have understood it). Basically, when we are in anxiety (mostly caused by fear - real or imagined), the body releases hormones to support the "fight or flight" response. (It's a very primitive and helpful response to safeguard us and we can't stop it). In primitive days, we would actually "fight or flight" and the extra hormones would be used up. However, in today's world, we don't "fight or flight", instead go back angry and mumbl...

20220918 : recession?

Almost any news I tune into from the world over, there are two major news  (i) the war  (ii) the economy as a result of the pandemic and war.  Almost everyone is screaming in unison of a looming recession. Shrinking GDPs, increasing inflation etc. But why is this a recession? Definitely for you and me and everyone else, it is certainly a very painful time, but is it a recession. On the one hand, we keep screaming "climate change", its ugly impacts etc.  We can mince our words and say it in many unintelligible ways, the harsh truth is that this planet cannot sustain this level of population and its demand for resources. Apart from India and many other asian and African countries, the population is staring at a collapse due to lowering birth rates. that is a very big problem for us as well. But is it? It's painful for us but isn't it great for humanity and the planet. Why do we need the economy, demand and growth every year. Why don't we aim for a controlled reducti...

20220909 : global domination

"The Queen is dead, long live the King" is all I have seen on every news channel from world over today. I might be wrong, but I think the English were the most successful of colonial rulers the world over. Yes, there were many others - Spanish/ French/ Dutch etc., but I think the English were the most successful. Colonial rule has dwindled very much and very very few territories left over. Territorially speaking, the writing is on the wall. However, have the colonies really ended! I have a nurse currently, who is the silent/ quiet type. She is one of the sharp/ smart nurses I have had. She speaks and is comfortable in Hindi and her local language. She speaks and understands little English. When I have to explain something, we chat in Hindi. I often wonder though - when did she become the silent type. Has she been seen as "not smart enough" because she struggled with understanding/ conveying things to others and it has been hammered in regularly. It may not be very o...

20220903 : Signature

I was doing something with regard to digital signature today. I was thinking about it. After my stroke, since I can't sign, I have become an "angoota chaap" (left hand thumb impression guy) for attesting documents. I used to feel bad about it earlier, not anymore. Anybody's signature can be copied and forged. But not mine. You see I attest my documents with unbreakable secure attestation now - by affixing ultra secure biometric impression on my documents 😂

2022902 : mind - stroke

Disclaimer : These thoughts and views are mine based on thinking and feeling. They have no medical backing so please take it with a pinch of salt or discard entirely 🙂 *** All of the brain stroke cases, ischemic, hemorrhagic or any other type leads to a damage to a part of the brain. The body is a slave to the brain , entirely - 100%. Various functions of the body are impacted depending on where the stroke occurred and the extent of damage it caused. The brain is difficult to heal. It has the capacity to heal but takes instructions only from the mind. Yes, I think the brain is a slave to the mind, 100%. Yes, the brain can be exercised through external therapy and drugs etc. However I think it can only be healed by the mind.  Where is the mind and is it separate to the brain? I don't know the answer to that with certainty, but I think it is. I also don't know if the mind resides in the head or the whole body or somewhere else, but I do think it is seperate to the brain. The bra...
